Ms. Independent Pole Costume

This dance costume was designed for a client to use for performance and competition. The challenge to overcome with this design was creating a cohesive, layered look that could be removed piece by piece, seamlessly during the performance. I accomplished this with strategically placed snaps and helpful feedback from the client during rehearsal.
The piece also had to convey a mood shift during the performance. The first layer was to be demure and coy, to later reveal a sassy independent lady underneath. Silhouette was used to create this change.
The first layer of this costume is a babydoll cut dress with a modest neckline. This sharply contrasts with the bikini style top and hot pants of the second layer. The second layer also had the added detail of hand-painted dollar signs to further emphasize the theme that this lady is financially independent.
